Well, that went fine.
Thanks!
You probably beat me on making knots, I know nothing of it.
Ok, lets see.
They dont like us here, its their home. We are the intruders
This one is blocked with bolts, but there is a ladder over here.
This building has a surveillance system. But I hope I disabled it all before, as I told you about.
If the alarm sounds we know who started it. So far no one has showed up though.
Actually I rather go here during daytime, because then no one cares if the alarm sounds.
Now, it smells more like copper theifs of us. But for all I know the system is not connected to anything.
Hmm, I thought of something.
I saw a suspicious looking shape here somewhere.
You're looking at the satellite images. Yeah, exactly.
We were driving over there, right? Maybe we should just continue heading forward
towards this open area
Are we getting close? Yeah, we were supposed to take that that turn. But there wasn't even a road.
Lets try the next one instead.
Suppose to take that one? That wasn't much of a road at all.
Maybe there was one before. Here is one. Lets try it.
UE/urbex/urban exploration/ruin *** or exploring abandoned sites
Would you call yourself an Urban Explorer?
I would agree with it in company of other explorers. But I wouldnt on my own.
What would you be on your own?
It depends on who Im talking to. If Im explaning to a
colleage at work, its probably best to say I got a cufic interest in ruins.
How would you describe it?
The interest for Urban Exploration? First of all its the excitement of doing the trip.
Its a thrill you get hooked too, almost an addiction for new experiences.
Others go to soccer games to get their thrills, screaming their throats soar if the wrong team wins or loses.
Dont you get curious? If there is a door open I have to see whats inside.
If there is a stairway I'd have to walk it to the end
Its easier to compare with climbing a mountain. You find something that needs to be explored.
That was difficult (ironical)
What would happen if someone caught us in here?
If the police comes, they could get us for unlawful entry. If someone else comes
we'll just say we knew we are not allowed in here, but we found a hole in the fence, and our only purpose is for documenting
I dont how many people are stupid enough to come here and visit the place.
But it seems really inviting to me.
As I told you, if the alarm sounds we know why
I feel a bit uncomfortable during these hours, it's a little bit criminal being here. But the surveillance system isn't connected.
Overthere is a sensor for the surveillance system, but we covered it before.
Behind that empty paperbag. Whatever you do, dont touch it, because then the alarm will start sounding.
If we carefully... Its a bit nervous, dont you think?
electricity? No, there is no power left. It must be on a different circuit or something.
That sound, its just the wind. We'll head up and see. If the alarm sounds its us who did it.
The signs say you're not allowed in there, but your only intention is to explore it and snap some pictures.
You also know its abandoned and you're not welcome, of course it's thrilling.
Then its also about making your entry with good manners. You shoudn't break in or destroy anything.
Sometimes you have to climb above or around to get in.
You are not supposed to go in where its not possible. You have to find the doors and windows that are open.
You could call it an extension of the swedish right to public access.
Maria and Calle both follow the rule: "Take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints"
Maria sometimes call it an interest for the romantic remains of ruins.
Its the curiosity that drives her, but also the visual experience of the abandoned.
Places where the moist is pushing through the concrete and the trees piercing the brick walls.
Calle is allways on the lookout for traces of whats left behind.
Sometimes exploring these places almost reach a form archeology and brings on a great interest for their historical background.
Former military training area
Live ammunition may still be present in the ground and water.
Okay, we'll try this route first. If it doesn't help us we'll try something else.
What are you hoping to find?
I hope we find some rusty iron construction or something like that.
It feels a bit like I've fooled you coming here. But thats realistic.
Well, I guess you can't find your way everytime.
Atleast we found that sign, which said its here.
Yes, thats right. We just have to find some material remains.
That was quite a strange...
pipeline. Somehow rather nice looking.
Its concrete. Yes, thats allways quite tempting.
Concrete and moss.
Its actually pretty neat.
Is it ok if we follow it? Yes, of course.
Now we've almost reached the end, come'on.
This is an *** in overgrown concrete. For sure.
Not necessarily abandoned though. But it has the looks. Yeah its beautiful!
Shall we try and make it to the top?
Aha
It's a lake. Yeah, and the level is high.
This is not ninja-ue.
But Im quite happy that we found that strange cage.
And this weird pipeline that you couldnt tell the purpose of. But its really nice and I just want to pet it.
Im not going to push it.
Don't step on that one, because it will make great noise.
These are the things that are really interesting. The things they just left behind.
Yeah, it must have been one day where they just didn't show up for work and then they never came back.
And its quite organized too, the keys in the correct place. Even the keys, I wish I knew what they are for.
But what about the ultimate place to explore?
It could be something great in the forest made with concrete with a lot of archs and...
a lot of it covered in moss. Just like what we saw today, but very large and monumental.
What's really strange is that we spend our vacation happily travelling to greece or egypt to see the great ruins and pyramids
in all its pride and glory, it is truly interesting. But we forget that there are interesting things around the corner.
And if we would save these places for our future generations it would also gain its cultural value.
But the buildings that are 50 - 100 years old is not old enough to keep. And then when it's all gone we wonder what happend?
